Salary Range:$30.00 To $40.00 Hourly

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team at Landscape Garden Centers (LGC). As a Mechanic, you will diagnose and repair various vehicles and equipment. Your expertise will ensure that our fleet operates safely and efficiently, allowing us to provide top-notch service to our customers. You will report to our Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, maintaining proper fluid levels, replacing filters. 

  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints, conducting inspections, repairing engine failures, repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions, replacing parts and components, and repairing body damage. 

  • Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems. 

  • Testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards complies with state vehicle requirements. · Maintains vehicle records by recording service and repairs.

  • Follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventive maintenance, and call for repairs to keep shop equipment operating. 

  • Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service, and parts options. 

  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts. 

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications. 

  • Accomplishes maintenance and organization mission by completing related results as needed. 

  • Other duties may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking systems, and other mechanical systems

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate of graduation from vocational technical training school with a concentration on truck mechanics and heavy equipment mechanics

  • At least 4 years of experience as a mechanic

  • Experience working with gaskets and alternators

  • Experience working with a variety of diesel trucks and equipment

Skills:

As a Mechanic at LGC, you will use your expertise in diesel engines, braking systems, and other mechanical systems to diagnose and repair various equipment. You will also use problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues and develop practical solutions. In addition, you will collaborate with other team members to ensure that all equipment is operating safely and efficiently. Your attention to detail and ability to read technical manuals and schematics will be crucial in maintaining accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed.
